What to Bring
- Headphones — over-ear if you’ve got them; you’ll want them on the pro audio floor and for playing people your own work. Make sure they can connect to your phone easily.
- One streaming link with your best music on it. Something that opens on a phone in a second, no logins, no folders. Have it ready to add to your Besidee profile during registration and somewhere you can grab it instantly.
- Business cards. Still the easiest way to end a good conversation. Or if you don’t have time, your Besidee profile will do the work.
- And give your site and socials a quick refresh before the day. People will look you up on the way home.
- Bring your best self — you’ll be meeting seasoned professionals throughout the day.
Research
- List down your goals: what do you want from this conference? E.g. find a collaborator or publisher, meet a mentor, learn about an area of the industry. Shape your goal to understand what steps you need to take.
- Research the mentors and supervisors beforehand and find the ones whose work you genuinely like.
- Make a concise list of 3–4 questions that you can rehearse and ask everyone.
- Prepare an elevator pitch: thirty seconds is all you need.
Post-Conference
Make sure you send individual messages and emails after researching. Template copy-and-paste emails are likely to be ignored. Feel free to follow up, but do not spam the connection — they’ll get to you when they can.
